48 Hours in Paris

Watch out Munich. My Mom's coming! It will be her first time in Europe and in two weeks, she will visit four countries - Germany, Italy, France, and Austria. Three days before the wedding, my Mom and I are taking a quick trip to Paris. My Mom is bursting at the seams with excitement. We don't have a lot of time but our "must see" attractions are the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, shopping along the Champs-Élysées, and dinner and a show at the Moulin Rouge. Is there any other place we have to see while we're there?

Having lived just two hours via TGV from Paris, I have visited (and shopped!!!) there many times. I love the city, and it never bores me!

BTW-- there are better places to shop than the Champs-Elysees. If you are looking for high end stuff, I would suggest the side street from the Champs. I forget the name, but if you go to the end that is not the Arc, there is a round-a-bout/round intersection. Looking at the arc, go to the left. All of the "good stuff" is over there-- Chanel, Gucci, Louis, etc. Also, I like the Galaries Layfette for shopping, because you can hit all of the major stuff in one spot. My favorite time to visit there though is Christmas-- they have a HUGE Christmas tree (four stories high) during the holiday season. Oops... shopping. All of the great stuff is in the Galaries too... and the snobbiness of the Champs stores can be avoided...along with the line to get in to the Louis store on the Champs.

The Louvre is more than a one day trip, but if you are in a hurry, definitely stop in. It is worth the price of admission. I also enjoyed the Notre Dame, but I have a thing for churches.

I could go on for chapters... LOL!

Thank you! I may have to call you before we leave - for real! We will definitely check out the Galeries Lafayette.

Thanks for the offer, but I did bring my wedding dress with me from America.. Michael has been an angel and has not even peeked!

All of the arrangements are made, and in less than a week I will be Frau Michael! We are both very excited and ready.. We are just hoping the weather will be good.. if you can make the sun shine on 29 August, we'll both be very grateful!

Will post pictures when we get them!
