Love it. Hate it.

I've been tagged by Maria!

Name 5 things you love in your new country.

1. Pretzels! I was a pretzel junkie in America (honey wheat) but Bavarian Brez'n are delicious any time of the day. Think chewy on the outside, soft on the inside and salty. I have one every morning before class.

2. European fashion.

3. International Music - Radio stations, MTV, and every mainstream club feature international music. You hear it all - English, German, Spanish. I like the variety. Xavier Naidoo is my favorite German artist right now.

4. Munich is such a dog friendly city. Robbie can go into cafes, most restaurants and stores. And there are so many beautiful parks within walking distance. We love taking Robbie to the Englischer Garten. Robbie trifft viele schöne Mädchen dort!

5. German architecture.

Name 4 things that you miss from your native country.

1. My Mama!

2. Convenience - pharmacies, grocery stores, and restaurants with late night or 24 hour service.

3. American Charm! Most, if not all Americans are friendly. We can't help it. We are “people people”. Germans are not.

4. American Television - The The Cosby Show in German is just wrong.

Name 3 things that annoy you a bit (or much) in your new country.

1. Germans don’t say EXCUSE ME. Ever. If someone bumps into you or even cuts in the line in front of you, it doesn’t matter. It’s so rude and it drives me crazy.

2. The phrase “Customer Service” doesn’t exist in the German language.

3. It’s overcrowded.

Name 2 things that surprise you (or surprised you in the beginning) in your new country.

1. People wanted to speak English with me. Or they were being polite. Either way, I was appreciative.

2. Grandmas and Grandpas on bikes. I still can’t get used to seeing an elderly woman in a dress, riding a bike......in the snow.

Name 1 thing that you would miss terribly in your new country, if you had to leave it.

Meine deutsche Familie.

What a nice tag! And what nice answers you gave. I'll get on to it as soon as I can.

Hi there, new reader here from Jen's blog.

I completely agree with the 'Excuse me' and 'Customer Service' things. Funny how most Americans living in Gemrany notice that.
