Yaaah! Cookies!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies! I have to be honest, this is my second try - the first batch, White Chocolate Oatmeal, didn't turn out right. Who knew that if you put 12 tablespoons of cookie batter on a sheet, the cookies would triple in size, melting into one another, forming one big gooey cookie? But these easy (I already had every ingredient) and moist cookies turned out perfect. I made so many, G had to take the majority to work to get them out of our house!

Gauchos Galore

With promises of swordfish and salmon, G finally persuaded me into going to a Brazilian steakhouse, Chima. And after a fun farewell dinner for our friend, who at this very moment is on a plane heading home, all I have to say is - wow - it was pretty damn good. I don't eat beef, pork, or chicken, but our five friends thought the selection was excellent - 16 rotisserie meats and the fish, which I thought was seasoned and grilled just the way I would do it myself. Yum.

I honestly savored each and every bite because I've been really really considering and much to G's dismay, obsessing (ha!) about giving myself a healthy birthday present this year ---
going green. Becoming a vegetarian. Think I can do it? Only one more week to decide....

First Things First

If you are in Vegas and you want to see a cool -not so Vegasy- show, please take my advice and take your significant other or your craziest friends to see Zumanity. It's an "adult themed"
Cirque du Soleil production.

Need I say more?

G had a kick ass birthday in Vegas. His favorite part, besides the 80 degree weather, was going indoor skydiving. Check him out!

We also drove to the Hoover Dam. Photos are coming...In the meantime, here are some memories from Vegas.

RocknRolla

Well RocknRolla wannabes. For a week. In Vegas.

That was G's answer when I asked him how he wanted to spend his birthday this year. We are heading out tomorrow morning. Wünscht uns Glück!

Wearing it out.

Now I understand why Kanye West has such a big mouth.

I Heart Germany

We are back home after a two week mini adventure! The highlights are: In Chicago, I took G to Portillo's - a fast food restaurant that every one of my meat loving friends agree has the best hot dogs in town. We ended up eating Portillo's twice that day. He loved the fully loaded hot dog AND the polish sausage and can't stop telling his German friends about it and how he was wrong about America's hot dogs. In Michigan, my Mom celebrated her 60th birthday and we were there, along with sixty of her closest family members and friends, on a dance floor, in a huge circle with my Mom in the middle, singing the Stevie Wonder version of Happy Birthday! It was pretty cool. And then we were off to Germany, to surprise G's parents. We didn't tell them we were coming in town - we just flew in and caught a taxi from the airport to their house, and rang the doorbell. They were stunned! We spent the majority of the week in Frankfurt and we drove to Munich -
I really missed that city....every where we went, there were so many good memories. But the highlight of our time in Germany was with G's parents. We didn't stop laughing the entire time we were there. Of course we had amazing food and cakes. Even with just showing up on her doorstep, unannounced, G's Mom made our favorite meals and desserts magically appear, as if she knew were coming all along. Oh, and I went over to their neighbor's house again to take some more pictures of the cows. What can I say... once a city girl, always a city girl!
