To See or Not To See Thru

There is a fine line between super sexy and trashy...I've been sitting on the fence, on more than one occasion. However, for my wedding, I want an atypical gown but I don't want to cringe when I look at my photos next year. What do you think?

A order B?

These gowns are very nontraditional but everything about us, especially having two different ceremonies in two countries, is nontraditional. So I've been choosing gowns that I find beautiful and memorable, as opposed to what a wedding gown should look like. These are just a couple of my favorites...there's more to come. What do you think?

Abendessen für Zwei

Our Raclette dinner was fantastisch!
A delicious meal with no real cooking involved.

Love is..

Love is not blind.

It simply enables one to see things others fail to see.

It's Official: Obama for President!

"Each and every time, a new generation has risen up and done what's needed to be done. Today we are called once more - and it is time for our generation to answer that call. For that is our unyielding faith - that in the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it."

Die Braut To Be

When G asked me to marry him, the first decision we made that night was to not immediately set a date for the wedding. We wanted to figure out the best time for both of our immediate families to be in one country, at the same time. In the meantime, we've decided to have our wedding in Munich, with an intimate (pretty word for small) reception. Then later in the year, we will have another reception in America, which is for the rest of my family and our friends. We still haven't chosen a date yet. And without a date for the wedding in Munich, my Mother can't really start planning the reception in America. You know this is driving her insane.....I forgot to mention that she's a professional Wedding Coordinator. Yes, I'm letting her plan the entire reception in America. All we have to do is show up. But she can not understand why I am taking so long to make decisions. I think it's because the wedding industry in Germany is almost nonexistent compared to America, where a Bride To Be is bombarded with so much information in countless magazines on bridal boutiques, wedding cake designers, photographers, and so on. In Munich, I hardly see anything associated with weddings. Out of sight, out of mind. I need some inspiration! I have started looking at dresses and surprisingly, I have found a couple of European designers I like. I am extremely particular (nice word for manic) about this wedding dress so it is a major relief that I may be able to find my dress here, as opposed to ordering a dress from the US, which would have the potential to be a major headache. Every woman can relate. Anyway, last night I started searching online for a unique location for the reception in or around Munich and I've come across hotels - too typical and castles - not my style. I'm thinking if I find my dress and a location for the reception...maybe I can actually set a date. Totally backwards planning but at least it's planning, right?

Fact or Fiction?

I wasn't always a dog lover. I had a cat (Lenny Kravitz) when G and I met. I loved my cat and I really thought that was the most amount of love I could ever feel for a "pet". I cried for days when I gave him to my friend - G was highly allergic. Don't even start...it was either Lenny or my future husband. And then Robbie came into our lives. The little monster changed everything. I have become a Dogoholic. My love is borderline obsessive. I used to think people kissing their dogs on the mouth or allowing their dogs to lick their face was down right disgusting. Well, Robbie learned the command "Kiss" before "Sit". He knows the power of a kiss too. When he wants a treat or his ball, I get a kiss. When he does something wrong and I yell at him, he tries to kiss me. He loves the taste of my face lotion. And I'm ashamed to admit it but sometimes, I will let him taste (lick) things, like a pretzel or a carrot, and if he doesn't want it, I still eat it. I know! It's so gross! Anyway, G and I have different opinions regarding kissing the dog and we always discuss why I allow/encourage Robbie to kiss me on the lips. And I always say that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human’s. Haven't you heard that too? I'm not exactly sure who told me or where I read it but it's the perfect excuse for my ridiculous behavior. Well, I really wanted to know, is a dog's mouth cleaner than a human’s? So, today I did some research.

Bacteria in the mouth of a dog are species specific, meaning that most canine diseases, with the exception of rabies, do not generally affect humans. HOWEVER, dogs use their mouths like people use their hands so the bacteria counts in their mouths can be very high. We shake hands when we say hello while dogs give each other a peck on the rear end. A dog's tongue is not only his wash cloth but also his toilet paper. Wow.... And when he's outside, even when you watch him, he still may lick fecal material from other dogs. According to most Veterinarians, your dog could have a nice selection of harmful bacteria cultivating within his mouth. So after sampling the world with his tongue, it's not a good idea to let your dog give you saliva and bacteria smeared kisses.

After thinking about everything I've read today, I know I have to make some changes.

G is laughing.
